The mission of Harrison County Lifelong Learning is to provide access to a wide range of education and training opportunities for the residents of the Harrison County, Indiana area.

Harrison County Lifelong Learning partners with several educational institutions and community resources to increase the skills and abilities of local citizens while empowering and enriching their lives in an effort to promote a lifetime of learning. Free Classes for English Language Learners

In partnership with River Valley Resource's Adult Educatin program, Harrison County Lifelong Learning will be hosting classes for students who need to improve their English language skills. The classes aim to help students with reading, writing, comprehension and grammar skills. They will also help students improve their English fluency and offer additional support to ensure educational success. The classes will be conjuction with the Adult Education program and will meet Tuesday - Thursday, 8:30 AM - 1:10 PM. Adult Education Schedule Changes

Beginning October 1, the Adult Education classse will meet on a Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday schedule from 8:30 AM - 1:10 PM each day. New students interested in enrolling in classes to work towards their high school equivalency or improve their skills for college or career advancement will be required to attend an 8-hour Orientation session. These Orientations sessions are scheduled every othe week on a Tuesday and Wednesday, 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Upcoming Orientation sessions are scheduled for December 11 & 12, 2018. Students do not need an appointment to attend but should arrive promptly at 9:00 AM to get started.

WorkKeys Assessments Now Available

As Harrison County participates in the Work Ready Community initiative, Lifelong Learning is the Test Center for the ACT National Career Readiness Certificate. Students may call the learning center to set up an appointment to take the three WorkKeys NCRC Assessments needed to earn the credential. Applied Mathematics, Graphic Literacy and Workplace Documents measure workplace skills critical to job success. These skills are valuable to any occupation, level of education and in any industry. Additionally, students can use the computer lab at Lifelong Learning to complete Keytrain, the foundational curriculum to help people master the skills measured by the WorkKeys assessments.

High School Equivalency Testing

Harrison County Lifelong Learning is the Test Center for Region 10 in Southern Indiana. We serve Harrison, Crawford, Clark, Floyd, Scott and Washington Counties with the new high school equivalency assessment that replaced the General Educational Development test. The new assessment ensures Indiana offers a high school equivalency (HSE) test that matches employer demand and is both affordable and accessible. Students who successfully pass the HSE test will obtain an Indiana High School Equivalency Diploma. Upcoming tests are available in New Albany. Scholarships Available to Harrison County Adults

The Harrison County Community Foundation has an Adult Scholarship Program to assists Harrison County residents who have completed at least 50% of the required credit necessary in obtaining a Bachelor's or Associate's degree. In order to be eligible, individuals must be at least 25 years old and must demonstrate legal residency for the past 24 months. Scholarship awards may be used for tuition, course-related fees and books only. To submit an application, visit the Scholarship page at Harrison County Community Foundation.

Lifelong Learning Houses WorkOne Express

Harrison County Lifelong Learning hosts a Career Coach from WorkOne on Mondays & Thursdays,
8:30 AM - 4:30 PM
. Clients can stop in to conduct job searches, complete a skills assessment, develop a career plan and receive information on training, referrals, and placement services.
